DN's Loot
Thank you Grandma Wee, Great Grandma Foo, Uncle Josh, Aunty Janet, Uncle David & Aunty Simin, Uncle Noel & Aunty Carla, Uncle Steffen & Aunty Elaine, Uncle Melvin & Aunty Pauline, Aunty Jeanne, Grand Small Aunty, Uncle Andrew & Aunty Nora, Uncle Kenneth & Aunty Desri, Uncle Peter & Aunty Joanne, Aunty Dorothy, Uncle Marc & Aunty Lay San, and Mom & Dad! (phewww...)
I think I did alright this Christmas.
Next mission : Chinese New Year!
Mom got me these Tippy Toes socks. I have 6 pairs in black, blue, green, orange & red.
I'm saving the red pair for CNY. Red for luck and more ang pow!
Dad got me a blue bumbo seat... my new throne!
DN : "Where are my dancing maidens, bunches of grapes and goblets of wine??"
DN : "You! Minion! Get my wine!"
DN : "... hic... maybe that last goblet of wine wasn't a good idea... hic!"

This is the usual scene when we eat out. While I'm trying to spear my food with a single fork, DN is sitting on my lap
a) chomping on his fingers
b) sucking on his pacifier
c) eyeing my food
d) all of the above - sometimes
and PF is taking unglamourous pictures of both of us, and basically being quite useless!
*chomp*
*chomp*
*chomp*
*notice PF has finished ALL his food and is not helping to carry DN?
*... but I seem quite happy though... hmm...
Me : "Why is PF still taking pictures and not helping me hold DN?"
DN : "That muffin looks good."
DN :"My, that pacifier sure looks tasty."
DN : "Damn, my arms are too short."

When DN was 2.5 months old, I signed him up for a weekly playgroup class at Babies and Cream @ GWC. A bit of an overkill, I know, but I was desperate. The website promised Baby Yoga, Baby Massage, Musical Moments (whaaat???), blah blah blah... ah whatever! I just don't want to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars anymore!
Anyway, he just finished his 6th and last session on Saturday, and I must say, he behaved really well in all the sessions! Out of 6 sessions, he
* fell asleep in only 3 sessions
* did a major puke in only 2 sessions
* cried hysterically in only 1 session
The only weird thing about the class is this 1 exercise...
All of us hold our babies and get into a circle. Then we start walking around in the circle and chant positive affirmations for our babies, like how we want them to grow up. It went like this,"EH-very day and EH-very way, I'm GROW-wing more and more ______!!!" So we each take turns to fill in the blank with positive qualities like generous / healthy / creative... (of course, I really wanted to say "HAIR" when it was DN's turn, but I think the teacher wouldn't be too pleased) As we chant, we march in a circle and at the end of each affirmation, we all swing our babies into the middle of the circle and go, "WHEEEEE!"?????
IT WAS SO WEIRD! I FELT LIKE I WAS IN A CULT!Anyway, PF took some pictures of DN and 2 of his playmates. (all sept babies!) PF took like 10 million pictures but babies love to vibrate, so only 2 came out remotely decent. -_- And of course, NO ONE is looking at the camera... that would really have been asking for too much!
Jovann, DN & Cayden
don't ask me what they are all looking at... (obviously not PF's camera!)

You can spot 1st-time parents a mile away. They are the ones armed to the teeth with car seat, stroller, bouncer, rocker and other assorted baby paraphenalia, half a year before the baby is born. That's us! We had everything... but the baby.
Here's the space-age car seat we got him. We feel like the "Jetsons" driving around with it in the back!
For months, every time I looked at the car seat, I would envision DN sleeping snugly in it with a heavenly smile on his face as we shuttled from home to shopping centre to grandmother's place and to all the ends of Singapore.
Heavenly smile my backside!
Unfortunately, our good friend, Mr. Ong Der Nen, prefers the other well-padded car seat in the car : MY LAP. And he doesn't fail to inform us of his preference every time we're in the car, by screaming his little head off.
The 3 of us each fight our individual battles every time we go out.
PF's battle : How to drive to destination as quick as possible without getting a ticket / hitting other vehicles along the way / saying four-letter words in English or Hokkien.
My battle : How to placate screaming infant with squeaky teddy bear / rattle / story book / stupid funny faces and voices, without saying four-letter words in English or Hokkien.
DN's battle (the easiest) : How to get out of car seat
-_-
Humph!
Anyway, I've got it! I know how to placate screaming infant in car seat!
I sing! We were in the car the other day and out of desperation, I started warbling "Old MacDonald Had A Farm" at the top of my voice, trying to drown out DN's crying and GOOD GOD, IT WORKED! He stopped crying and just stared at me.
And I was off like a rocket!
"Old MacDonald had a cow / goat / chicken / duck / donkey / sheep / dog / cat, E-I-E-I-O!"
Thank goodness it was only an 8-minute drive coz we had run out of farm animals and were throwing in chimpanzees, llamas, guanacos and whales. (PF's contributions, he-who-has-obviously-never-been-on-a-farm-before)
And, thank goodness I said "no" a coupla weeks back when my mom asked if we wanted to bring DN on a trip to Malacca. E-I-E-I-O for 2.5 hrs?? DN will be so stressed that he will arrive in Malacca as bald as an egg.
Anyway now, I sing to him ALL THE TIME!
1. In his bouncer
DN : "Hmm, she's started singing again."
DN : "Thanks for covering my private bits!"

1. He lurrrves to be carried upright!
He absolutely abhors being cradled like a baby. Propping him on our shoulder usually stops all crying.
DN : "Stop looking at my balding head!"
DN : "Back up! Back up! You're too close Dad!"
DN : "Much better... at least give me a chance to show off the side with more hair, right?"
2. He lurrrves his pacifier!
Actually, I think PF and I love it more than him. It's like a stopper - just plug it in and the crying magically stops! heh heh heh...
* can u see his "wet-japanese-cartoon-xiao-tian-tian" eyes??
3. He lurrrves to put his fingers in his mouth!
His motto? "The more the merrier" So we often see Mr. I-have-no-idea-how-big-my-fist-is-and-how-small-my-mouth-is trying to stuff all 5 fingers into his mouth.
4. He lurrrves story time!
PF and I usually read him a book or 2 (or 5! depends on when he starts to get sleepy) before his last feed of the night. He's now starting to reach out to touch the pages... ah, so cute!
5. He lurrrves letting his parents take a million pictures of him doing nothing!
Yes, we are exploiting HRC ("his royal cuteness", or "his royal crankiness" if it's close to milk time, grrrr...) to the max!
DN : "Alamak, I sneeze also want to take picture..."
DN : "... they even want to take a picture of me chewing my burp towel..."
DN : "... a picture of my feet!?? My parents are ker-razy!"
DN : "... here? I'm not even looking at the camera!"
DN :"They're even sneakily taking pictures of me in the dark!"
DN : "Finally! A proper picture :) ..."

2. DN started flipping onto his side this week!
3. DN got his jab.

2:48pm
DN : "Hmm... this is not too bad..."
2:48pm
DN : "Wonder what all the fuss was about? I ... can ... do ... this ..."
2:49pm
DN : "......"
(tired, rest!)
2:49pm
DN : "... er, mummy, this is not so fun anymore..."
2:50pm
DN : "Put the camera down and lift me up!"
Me : "Wait wait wait! New camera, must take more pictures! Stop moving so much!"
DN : "....." (howls, wails and heaves)
Me : "Okay already! I get the point!"
** All taken with spanking new camera... with the old camera, he would just be one big blue fuzzy mess.

07 Dec 2006 . Thursday . 11:12am
He was lying on the changing table and I bent down to talk to him. Suddenly he reached out and grabbed my nose! (geez, I hope it's not becoz it's the biggest thing on my face) Knowing my luck, (usually rotten), before that his fist was stuffed in his mouth and there was saliva all over my face, but who cares?! He reached out and touched my face today!

I must thank my little cousin Roxy who helped me design (... er ok, I have to confess, she did the whole thing!!) this blog becoz her cousin (i.e. ME) is a mountain tortoise and a bloggosaurus (blogging dinosaur).
HTM-whaaat??
Goodbye to all shots of vibrating baby!
PF bought a new camera! (he cannot stand me grumbling abt the other rotten one, ho ho ho...) And it's one spiffy looking thing man... all matt black and uber-cool... I felt like some hotshot photographer, twisting the lens and pressing the buttons... when I almost fell off the stool (trying to get a bird's eye shot of the baby), I didn't feel that hotshot anymore... :x
No more fuzzy baby in photos!
I was trigger-happy with a vengeance man. Took over a hundred shots in the morning and exhausted the battery... :P ... jia lat, now must download everything into the comp... no more energy to upload pics...
Watch this space, photos akan datang! Anne Geddes, eat my dust!
